At Gardaland SEA LIFE Aquarium, we really love the oceans and the creatures that dwell there. By showing you their beauty, we hope that you will also help us to save them for the future generations.
TROUT REPOPULATION IN LAKE GARDA
To celebrate the 5th birthday of Gardaland SEA LIFE Aquarium, on Saturday, 1 June 2013, we organised a trout repopulation initiative at Lake Garda, a conservation initiative promoted in collaboration with the Servizio di Tutela Faunistico Ambientale (Environmental Fauna Protection Agency) of the Province of Verona. The protagonists of the big day were approximately 35 children, who set off from the port of Peschiera, on board a Navigarda motorboat, with a rather unusual cargo. Off the shores of Lido Ronchi they released - with great care and enthusiasm - 1.000 baby brown trout into the waters of Gardaland's neighbouring lake. The project was organised in collaboration with the technicians and ichthyologists of the fish hatchery of Bardolino.
This initiative was repeated in 2015 and, due to its popularity and success, will now become a regular appointment for the lake and its inhabitants.
SEAHORSE, CORAL AND JELLY FISH REPRODUCTION PROGRAMME
The seahorses that live at the Gardaland SEA LIFE Aquarium are never bought or caught in the open seas; they are all born and reproduced in our Aquarium. This means that if the seahorse, which is an endangered species, ever became extinct, the population at the Gardaland SEA LIFE Aquarium would be able to guarantee the survival of the species. SEA LIFE is part of an international task force that constantly monitors the oceans worldwide, to protect and conserve this extremely fragile species.
And even the corals and jellyfish in our tanks are all reproduced at the aquarium too.
BEACH CLEANING DAYS
These events, organised in collaboration with Castelnuovo del Garda Municipality and Civil Protection, have the aim of sending out a message to raise young peoples' awareness of the environment: 'Save our beaches and waters'. On each of these occasions, a smiling army of almost two-hundred people, including children and parents, sets off on a very effective ecological walk of the lake's shores, in the Municipality of Castelnuovo del Garda.Armed with gloves and rubbish bags, the participants get to work on gathering garbages, like bottle tops, cigarette ends, sweet wrappers and anything else that can harm the environment. Then they place it all in special containers for recycling and disposal. At the end of the operation, the children can take a break in the panoramic arena of Lido Campanello, where they're greeted by our mascot, Prezzemolo, who gives out fun presents to all the participants. The morning ends with a small official ceremony and the salute of the Authorities, with the awarding of a memorial certificate.
